Mitie secures top spot in the 2024 SFMI ESG audit
- Mitie has ranked first-place in SFMI’s 2024 ESG audit
- Exceptional performance across decarbonisation, social value, wellbeing and risk management contributed to Mitie’s top spot ranking
- The award builds on Mitie’s previous SFMI successes and broader ESG recognition
The Sustainability Facilities Management Index (SFMI) has ranked Mitie first in its 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Audit. This prestigious recognition reflects Mitie’s ongoing commitment to driving sustainability leadership within the facilities management (FM) sector.
The SFMI is the UK’s leading sustainability benchmark for FM providers. Since its introduction in 2013, it has assessed how FM companies integrate sustainability into their strategies and offering to customers. The annual ESG audit evaluates FM companies across 23 criteria, including energy efficiency, waste management, biodiversity, health and safety, social value, and corporate governance.
Mitie’s first-place ranking highlights its exceptional performance across ESG, scoring full marks in 20 of the 23 categories, including Energy Reduction, Board Commitment, and Supply Chain Management.
This recognition builds on Mitie’s sustainability achievements in recent times, having previously been awarded the SFMI Platinum Award (the highest possible ranking), and the CDP’s ‘A List’ accreditation in February 2024. Mitie were also recently awarded Organisation of the Year’ at the Energy Managers Association awards. By aligning sustainability initiatives with its broader commercial strategy, Mitie aims to deliver greater value for customers and drive positive change across the FM industry.
Jason Roberts, Group Sustainability Director, Mitie, said:
“Securing first-place in the 2024 SFMI ESG audit is testament to the great work we’re doing to embed sustainable practices into our business strategy. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do and we are committed to continuing to lead the industry in creating a greener and more inclusive future.”
